When Coffee Met the Dance Floor
Last June, we threw open the doors of BRU 1 and BRU 2 and turned our coffee shops into Basel's most caffeinated party. The first-ever Coffee Rave at Bru was part block party, part caffeine experiment, and 100% muchacha vibes.

Five Hours, Five DJs, Two Rooms
We set up two DJ stations — one in each room of BRU 1 and BRU 2. From 11 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon, five different DJs kept the energy going while our baristas pulled shots non-stop. The idea was simple: great music, great coffee, no pretension.
Vornelinks opened with deep, sun-soaked grooves that set the Saturday morning tone. Agape Kid brought the tempo up around noon. 2Lucky had the whole room moving by early afternoon, and Mike Kay closed it out with a set that nobody wanted to end. Between the two rooms, you could float between different sounds and different coffees all day.
Free Everything
We made the whole thing free entry. No tickets, no list, just show up. On top of that, we put out free food, cold beer, sangria, and — obviously — unlimited specialty coffee. Espresso martinis were flowing. Cold brews were disappearing. Our kitchen crew kept platters coming until the last DJ packed up.
What started as a "let's see if people show up" experiment turned into 400+ people filling both locations, spilling out onto the sidewalk, dancing between the bar and the DJ booth with a flat white in one hand.
The Vibe
The best part? The crowd. We had regulars who come in every morning for their cortado standing next to people who had never been to Bru before. Families with kids in the morning, the after-work crew later on. It felt like the kind of neighbourhood party Basel doesn't get enough of — relaxed, loud, caffeinated, and just the right amount of chaotic.
More Raves Coming
We learned a lot from the first one. Mainly: Basel wants more of this. So we're doing it again.
